First Aid at Work

Under the Health & Safety at Work act employers are required to provide First Aid materials and trained people so that where employees are taken ill or injured whilst at work they can be looked after until better trained assistance arrives.

There are 2 First Aid at Work courses, an initial course for those without a current certificate (never held or expired) and a re-qualification course for those holding a current FAW certificate.

The 'initial' course is usually run over 3 consecutive days and is formally assessed by independent Assessors during the final afternoon.  Successful candidates receive a First Aid at Work certificate which is recognised throughout industry across the whole of the UK, and is valid for 3 years.

The 're-qualification' course is usually run over 2 days and is also assessed in the same way as the initial course.  Successful candidates receive a new certificate dated for 3 years from the expiry of their previous certificate.
